Cognitec introduces the next version of its FaceVACS-Entry product, a slim, light-weight device suitable for installations in eGates and kiosks. The technology takes standards-compliant biometric photos, and compares the images to digital facial images retrieved from ID documents or databases. Instant camera positioning, active lighting and responsive user guidance lead to optimal capturing conditions, accurate verification results and fast processing times. The system serves all applications that require the acquisition of standards-compliant photos and the verification of probe images against a live image, including access or border control scenarios, and entry/exit programs. Cognitec Adds Verification and PAD Features to Photo Capture Device
The latest version of Cognitec’s FaceVACS-Entry technology not only takes biometric photos, it now allows for their comparison against facial images retrieved from ID documents or databases. The process also includes presentation attack detection to ensure a live person interacts with the device.

The slim, light-weight device fits wide-ranging installation scenarios, including eGates, desks, kiosks, free-standing pillars, and border control booths. Instant camera positioning, active lighting, and responsive user guidance lead to optimal capturing conditions, accurate person authentication results, and fast processing times.

FaceVACS-Entry serves all applications that require the acquisition of standards-compliant photos, and the comparison of probe images against a live image or stored image data, such as access control, border control, and entry/exit programs.

“The combined service of photo capture and person verification saves travelers lots of time at the border. They should complete all immigration procedures in just a few seconds,” says Managing Director Alfredo Herrera. “This new product version unites all the proven features we have thus far developed for border control applications, equipping it perfectly for other identity management use cases.”
